The power of prayer

By Lynette Odegaard

I started going to the Emiliani Intercessors for Renewal to encounter God and to offer my prayers to Him through the intercession of St Jerome Emiliani and the other intercessors within the group.

I believe that it has helped our parish grow more united through this act of praying together and I am certain that our individual prayers have become more powerful when prayer in community.

When I pray with other parishioners I feel so empowered and confident in asking God to hear not only me but all people praying for our requests.

One of my prayers were for my Neice to have a safe and healthy pregnancy, for the babies to be born healthy.

My Neice was having a difficult pregnancy and she was told she may loose the identical twins at 25 weeks gestation.

My Niece was in a lot of pain and was having complications and had to have complete rest.

At 28 weeks, my Neice was in excruciating pain so she was admitted to hospital.

My Aunty asked me to pray more prayers, as the doctor was going to make a decision as to what will happen next, so I immediately prayed the Rosary.

“At 8.40 pm the twins were born cessarian section and two identical healthy baby girls came into this world, thanks to the intercessory prayers of many parishioners.”

On the 28th September, the Doctors were astounded at the progress of the baby girls and our family believe it was a miracle made possible through the powerful prayers being heard.

On the 2nd October, the babies were out of Intensive Care Unit doing really well.

Scarlett is breathing on her own now, they are both real little fighters also having 2mls of milk every hour,
Isabella is still having assisted oxygen but progressing everyday, so I would still ask for prayers from St Jerome Emiliani intercessors and from all parishioners, especially that the twin girls Isabella and Scarlett be Baptised Catholics.

My Aunty and her family have thanked me for the prayers, they are not religious, I pray this miracle will convert them.

I believe this group is slowly building a stronger Community at St Jerome’s, however in saying that, there are still parishioners asking me what it means, they don’t understand what they need to do to get their prayers heard, so I would ask that they write down their details on the form in the foyer of the church.

THANK YOU and God bless you with many Graces for this opportunity to give thanks to God through the intercession of St Jerome Emiliani.
